Ilhan Omar is a Democratic representing Minnesota’s 5th congressional district. Ilhan Omar first assumed office in 2019. Prior to assuming this role, Ilhan had prior experience in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Historically Ilhan is the first naturalized citizen from Africa to serve in the House and is one of the first 2 Muslim women to serve. She has been criticised for an array of antisemitic remarks since assuming office.
